After copying files from one MMC card to another, I was not able to boot the radio using the new MMC card. I experienced the following problems:
1. Alternate bank reported as corrupted. It was OK on the original MMC card. All files have been copied OK.
2. After downloading new software over, this seems to have corrupted the Alternate bank and switching into the new alternate bank, which used to be a primary bank before the switch, reported as corrupted and I was not able to switch to it.
Why is this happening?
WARNING!!!
There is a wrong impression that copying files from a MMC card to another
MMC card
works. It is so at the first look.
The files from one MMC card SHOULD BE NEVER COPIED to the PC and then to
another card.
It is not going to work properly. Using MSUU is the ONLY proper way to copy
files into
MMC card.
Another SW download will be required to fix the above issue.
When MSUU downloads (or copies) files into MMC card it validates each file
and sets an
attribute that marks files as validated. This attribute is hidden and it
will not be
copied to new MMC card if you just copy files over. The purpose for the
attribute is to
indicate that files have not been altered after they had been validated.
So, in summary:
1. Software files cannot be copied from one MMC card to another one. But
there is no
need for that. If you need a new MMC card, you can use the original released
ZIP file
(from the CD or downloaded from the WEB site) and MSUU to initialize the
new MMC card
and put the software load into both the primary and the alternate banks.
2. The Configuration can be copied from old MMC card into new pre-initialized
MMC card.
The only file that needs to be copied is _CONFIG.DAT file located in CONFIG
folder. If
you want to archive a configuration, you should copy only this file to a
PC. Later to
restore the configuration you will have to copy archived_CONFIG.DAT file
into MMC card
initialized as described in the bullet 1. above.
A new MSUU utility will be released at the same time as Release 6 software.
This utility
will have a new feature of retrieving the configuration of the system remotely
and
storing it on a PC. It will also later allow you to take an archived configuration
from
the PC and send it to the remote equipment.

What kind of RF protector can be used in Truepoint 5200 RADIOS ?
Contact your local Harris distributor for a quote on price and availability
of the
Harris Part number 104-097885-689 Description CITEL ARRESTORS #P8AX-09-N-MF
This is the recommended "N" Male to "N" Female 50 Ohm surge arrestor.
Note: Never mount the protection device directly on the equipment rack.
This will result in the diverted current running through portions of the
rack which may damage electronic components.

Could you tell me what are the requirements / limits for the SNMP community strings on the TRuepoint radios. What I mean is the min/max length and the acceptable character set.
For TR5000 release 1-4 it is up to 20 characters.
For TR5000 release 6+ it is up to 16 characters.
In SNMP RFC there is no special requirements that community name can be
only letter and >>characters. It can be any string. Our radio accepts
anything.

What is DHCP and what is its purpose?
DHCP stands for "Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol".
DHCP's purpose is to enable individual computers on an IP network to extract
their
configurations from a server (the 'DHCP server') or servers, in particular,
servers that
have no exact information about the individual computers until they request
the
information. The overall purpose of this is to reduce the work necessary
to administer a large IP network. The most significant piece of information
distributed in this manner
is the IP address.

What is an IP address?
An IP address is typically four numbers separated by periods, i.e. 155.5.5.5
or
25.5.5.555) which uniquely identifies a computer. It is analogous to your
telephone
number in that the telephone number is used by the telephone network to
direct calls to you. The IP address is used by the Internet to direct data
to your computer, e.g. the data your web browser retrieves and displays
when you surf the net. One task of DHCP is to assist in the problem of getting
a functional and unique IP number into the hands of the computers that make
use of the Internet.

How to change
the Network Element (NE) address?
Go into configuration, Network Manangement,
NE address, hit enter, actual value. enter new value.
(Enable remote log-on should be ON.

What is the difference between the
L6 model and the U6 Model? I plan on using TRuepoint 5207 radios in our
system.
The main difference is the operating frequencies:
L6 (Lower 6 Ghz band) 5915 - 6425 MHz
U6 (Upper 6 Ghz band) 6425 - 7125 MHz

I am installing a new TRuepoint
radio. The receivers have good RSL levels, but I cannot see the far end
radio using the WEB CIT? What do I need to do?
First is to put the PC in the same subnet as the local radio's ethernet
interface...
then ping the far-end netcom IP address from the PC... if ping works....web
CIT is good.
If Ping fails.... check that the PC's default gateway is the local radio's
ethernet IP
address. These are two areas that usually correct this type of problem.

I am testing our new radios back
to back in my lab. How do I need to set it up to be able to connect via
WEB CIT? Manual or Auto?
In a test mode, you set it up in Auto, then your laptop has to be set to
get an IP address from the radios. Once you have finished testing, then
set up your IP network as needed.

With regards to the CIT interface,
what is a typical one Hop IP routing that will enable me to see both sides
of the Hop while using the imbedded CIT Program?
Menu Path
Configuration / Network Management / IP Routing
Local site
Netcom Interface set to Enable
Ncom IP Addr Mode set to Auto
Ethernet Interface set to Enable
Enet IP Addr Mode set to Auto
Enet/DHCP server set to Enable
IP Forwarding set to Router
Dynamic Routing
Rip Mode set to RIP-2Bro
Rip over Netcom set to Enable
Rip Over Ethernet set to Enable
Remote site
Same set us as local site
* After this is done , you must reboot both radios
* PC Set Up " must be configured to accept a DHCP address from radios
"
Here is an example
A typical IP Addressing scheme for Web-CIT connectivity assuming Auto mode
is enabled
for all interfaces:
Local Site
NE Address = 100
NETCOM Address = 172.21.0.1 / 255.240.0.0
Ethernet Address = 10.1.0.1 / 255.255 255.0
Web-CIT PC Address = 10.1.0.99 / 255.255.255.0 or auto-assigned by DHCP
Server ( Set PC
interface to automatically obtain address)
Default Gateway = 10.1.0.1 ( This interface should know how to route between
the PC
and the rest of the Harris network)
Remote Site
NE Address = 200
NETCOM Address = 172.22.0.1 / 255.240.0.0
Ethernet Address = 10.2.0.1 / 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway = 172.21.0.1 ( This interface should know how to route between
the
remote radios and any networks attached to the Ethernet interface at Site
1.
RIP Enabled
RIP Over Netcom
RIP Over Ethernet
NOTE: Radio must be rebooted everytime the user changes parameters under
Configuration --> Net Mgmnt --> IP Routing.

Can you tell me what is the black
triangle? Does is mean that a module is not equipped?
The black triangle means that the unit is not active (not carrying traffic).
For the
Controller, it means that there is no Minor / Remote alarm.

" ERROR: Specified
node is not accessible or does not support SNMP. "
Why do I get the above error message when attempting to connect to the TRuepoint
radio using the Microwave Software Upgrade Utility?
This error message indicates that an SNMP parameter is not set, either in the PC and/or the Microwave radio.
1. On the PC, go to Add Windows Components and verify that SNMP and FTP are enabled.
2. At WebCIT or Hand-Held Terminal, verify that the PC's IP address is
configured in
the SNMP Manager Address field.
